Helen Smith has been invited to appear at literary events, libraries and festivals around the world. She has featured on panels, facilitated workshops and hosted Q&As, as well as reading and performing her work in the UK, USA, Canada and India.

She has even read extracts from her Emily Castles Mysteries on a cruise ship en route to California from Southampton via the Suez Canal.

She is a supporter of Freedom From Torture and volunteered for many years as a mentor to exiled writers who were survivors of torture.

She was the founder of BritCrime, connecting authors with readers around the world with free online events that were accessible to all.

Helen Smith’s work has been read or performed at the National Theatre, The Royal Festival Hall, the Victoria and Albert Museum of Childhood, Amnesty International’s Headquarters, The Edinburgh Festival and The University of London.
